Juxtaposed Gallery Supports

Marta Kotlarska Yatra Pilgrimage

A photographic team originating from Poland and based in London, UK is setting off for a journey to the two holy places in the Himalaya. They will place Tibetan praying flags with the intention of the successful career development in arts of the people who support them. This rare opportunity put to use sacred powers of the ancientmountains in order to help others to develop their full potential in the arts. The Group is looking for sponsorship and support. The photographers will also prepare a photo narrative about Hindu pilgrimages taking place in the Himalaya.

“Yatra” means pilgrimage in Hindi. In Hindusim the places gain meaning thanks to the stories created, promoted and connected to the specific geographical spaces (rivers, lakes, and mountains). Hindus perceive the Himalayas as highly sacred, as a metaphor for seeing God in every atom of the universe. A prayer flag is a COLOURFUL rectangular cloth, often found strung along mountain ridges and peaks high in the Himalayas. Traditionally, prayer flags are used to promote peace, compassion, strength, and wisdom. The flags do not carry prayers to gods, which is a common misconception; rather, the prayers and mantras are believed to be blown by the wind to spread the goodwill and compassion into all pervading space. Therefore, prayer flags are thought to bring benefit to all.
